Scotland Diary - 2006

Fri 28th July.
Straight into our routine, 7.30 up for 8 o’clock breakfast. Rooms have to be tidied and then class till 11am. Everyone back to the kitchen for biscuits and juice, greatly appreciated after which more class.

Lunch in the park and then a trip to the musuem, a special feature there is the amazing Millenium clock.
Dinner at six and after an hour’s quiet time, off to the bowling alley and we’ll choose the film for the weekend.

The weather is great, temperatures much more pleasant, just had a short sharp shower and now the sun is out again. Everyone is settling in and each, at his own level, working hard to use the language. We will give you more news on Sunday!

Sunday 30th July.
Hi again! Well settled in now. Yesterday we visited the shops to get our bearings for the real “shop”. The truth is we didn’t actually have any local currency and the Post Office didn’t wait for us so that will be a job for Monday. In the evening, once everyone realized they didn’t have to pay, we went to see Pirates of the Caribean II.

Thrilling stuff! Sunday morning quiet and relaxing, some to church and others just taking it easy. Lunch at our usual bench in the park, fighting off the seagulls and this afternoon we visited the castle.

Always impressive! After dinner baseball and then the film Spanglish, just to make us all feel at home.
So far the only person to lock themselves out of their room is Roger!

Alicia is having a slight problem with the pavements, she trips over everything in sight but other than that, full steam ahead!

Sunday 6th August
After a full week of activities and new experiences just a few lines to let
you know what has been going on. The bike ride on Tuesday was a great
success, tiring, a bit wet but we overcame the difficulties and enjoyed
ourselves.

Just where everyone gets their energy from to then take part in
a game of baseball in the evening I just don´t know!

The"Fringe" is as fun as always. We´ve been to the theatre twice and it´s a world that never fails to surprise! Today the "Tattoo" parade marks the beginning of the Festival and we can´t wait for tomorrow when we will take our places at the castle to see the show.

By the way, those who were not so sure have discovered that the food here in Scotland is really very good!!

Bye for now!

Thursday 17th August
Little did we know this time last week just what was in store for us.

After an enthusiastic early morning start in Edinburgh, the trip home began. It´s all old news now however, with team spirit and a wonderful group of children and along with teachers and leader the 2006 Edinburgh trip finally arrived home three days later. Nerves, tears, excitememt and advertures were still to be had before an exhausted but happy troupe arrived in Valencia, Sun.13th Aug. Each one has a story to tell.

A trip to remember!

Well done folks!
